McFarlane Toys will pay a visit to the "Steel City" this July and set up shop inside the MLB FanFest for baseball's All-Star Game. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center is the home of the 2006 MLB All-Star FanFest -- showcasing 40 baseball-themed attractions from July 7th through July 11th (for more information: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/pit/fan_forum/asg/fanfest_main.jsp). As is our summer tradition, we'll be bringing a pair of exclusive figures to offer our Pittsburgh faithful and turn the heads of some new fans as well.

Long before Hines Ward delivered "one for the thumb" and Super Mario hoisted the Stanley Cup, Pittsburgh learned the meaning of a championship thanks to the Pirates' Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell. These two Hall-of-Famers were both chiefly responsible for delivering the Pirates' last two titles -- the 1971 and 1979 championships.

Both championships were won in hard-fought seven-game series over the Baltimore Orioles. Our two exclusive figures have a limited production run of 3,000 figures of each player, and showcase Clemente and Stargell in the uniforms they won their signature titles in.

ROBERTO CLEMENTE: The 1971 World Series featured a truly dominant performance from Clemente - he hit .414 with two homers, two doubles, a triple, three runs and four RBI to earn MVP honors. Though Stargell was a key part of the 1971 title team (his 48 regular-season homers were an all-time high), he struggled in the World Series, hitting just .208 with one RBI in 24 at-bats.

WILLIE STARGELL: "Pops" would earn World Series redemption eight years later, leading the "We Are Family" Pirates to another seven-game triumph over the Orioles. Stargell completed a phenomenal run with the Game Seven victory, adding a World Series MVP award to his NLCS MVP and regular season MVP (shared with St. Louis' Keith Hernandez) trophies. Stargell hit .400 in the 1979 World Series, crushing three home runs and driving in seven -- his two-run homer in the sixth inning of Game Seven erased a 1-0 deficit and proved the decisive blow in Pittsburgh's 4-1 clincher.

We'll look forward to this summer's MLB All-Star FanFest and hope to see you there!
