MCFARLANE/BARKER TS2 SIGNING A SUCCESS

Fans start lining up on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles late Friday night. By noon the next day, hundreds had arrived. Not only would they get to meet Clive Barker and Todd McFarlane, but they would also walk away with signed Tortured Souls 2 figures created by the kings of horror.

Several members of the spawn.com message board community came out to support the event, particularly Zerocool, who camped on the streets of West Hollywood for the honor of being first in line.

The signing was held at Meltdown Comics. In addition to comics, the store also carries an extensive catalog of action figures, posters and all else pop culture related. The store's clientele is a who's who of Hollywood, including Clive.

Momentum built up by Todd's flight from Phoenix to LA being delayed. On his arrival at Meltdown, the frenzy began with media interviews and paparazzi photo sessions. Also on hand was Hans Rodionoff, the writer tapped to pen the upcoming Tortured Souls feature film for Universal Pictures.

Once the signing started, Todd and Clive delivered the goods to the crowd, signing everything that was put on the table in front of them from TS2 figures to posters, Spawn guitar, novels and comics. Both commented later that they greatly enjoyed talking with everyone that came through the line.

After four hours, and another missed flight, (Todd stayed late so that no one went home empty handed) all autographs had been collected and pictures taken, Harrison Ford had been sighted, one lucky fan received a job offer, the real Suffering Bob made an appearance and the doors finally closed.

If you missed the action, fret not: We've got pictures plus look for coverage of the event and interviews with Todd and Clive on FmiTV.com and Livin' Large, a national syndicated show, slated to run February 2003. Fangoria, Cinefantastique, Rue Morgue and Cinescape magazines will all be featuring photos of the event in upcoming issues.
