Lineup Features Six of Canada’s Best

McFarlane Toys is proud to present a trio of 2-packs that showcase some of the best players from the six Canadian NHL teams. While there is no shortage of hockey fans worldwide, Canada is where hockey was born, and where the game's passion runs deepest. These NHL 2-packs feature two natural on-ice rivalries and one match-up of players with something to prove. So who's in
our starting lineup this fall?

Captains Courageous – MATS SUNDIN 2 vs. DANIEL ALFREDSSON 2
Ottawa right wing Daniel Alfredsson and Toronto center Mats Sundin are the longest-tenured captains of Canadian teams. The two Swedes are Olympic teammates and friends off the ice, but there's no love lost when their teams meet. What happens when two friends collide at center ice with a game on the line? It's just business, nothing personal…

The Battle of Alberta – RYAN SMYTH vs. MIIKKA KIPRUSOFF
Every division game on the NHL schedule is an important one, but there's more than two points on the line when Edmonton faces Calgary. “The Battle of Alberta” rages every season, and more often than not the primary combatants are Oilers left wing Ryan Smyth and Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff. Following his trade from San Jose, Kiprusoff has led Calgary to a 7-3-1 record against Edmonton, while stopping 93.8 percent of Edmonton's shots. The teams split their last six meetings, with Smyth recording a point in each of the last five games.

Unfinished Business – MARKUS NASLUND vs. DAVID AEBISCHER 2
Left wing Markus Naslund was born in Sweden, drafted by Pittsburgh, yet has become known as arguably the greatest hockey player in Western Canada. Swiss goaltender David Aebischer's career has seen some twists too, including winning the Stanley Cup in 2001 as Patrick Roy's backup with the Avalanche. Following Roy's retirement, Aebischer took over between the pipes in Colorado. His strong 2003-04 season was interrupted by the NHL lockout – and once hockey returned it wasn't long before he found himself in Montreal, the opposite end of a trade that sent Jose Theodore to Colorado. Aebischer righted himself after a rocky start, leading the Canadiens to wins in four of his seven starts. Naslund led Vancouver in scoring yet again, but the Canucks' shaky season left them three points outside the NHL Playoffs. Aebischer enters the 2006-07 season looking to cement his name in Montreal's lineup, while Naslund's focus is set on returning his team to the playoffs once more.

Stay tuned to Spawn.com in the upcoming weeks for images of these figures. Look for these NHL 2-packs this fall, as well as our NHL Team 3-packs, NHL 13, and NHL Legends 4.
