One of’s favorite events of the year is rapidly approaching: Comic-Con International. Located as always at the San Diego Convention Center in, uh, San Diego, 2003’s event is sure to be a blast for all who attend.

We’ll be at the event starting Preview Night Wednesday, July 16 through Sunday, July 20, 2003. Our booth number is 1913. There, you’ll be subjected to our cool setup featuring loads of two-up prototypes of upcoming figures and plenty of neat stuff to check out. Plus you’ll get to bask in the warm glow of several personalities and McFarlane employees.

Oh, and then there’s this year’s Comic-Con exclusive piece. For 2003, we’ve put together a special two-pack featuring a 4-inch-scale Spawn action figure and a 4-inch-scale replica of the upcoming Miracleman resin statue. The set is available in a special Comic-Con clamshell package and includes a rotating base with figure poster. This two-pack is extremely limited and will sell for $15. We’ll also have other products available to purchase.

In addition to the booth, McFarlane staffers are also taking part in several Comic-Con panels. Here’s the rundown on those:

  • Plastically Incorrect, Friday, July 18, 1 to 2 p.m., Room 18.
Presented by What happens when toy worlds collide? What would top toy experts say to each other if given the opportunity? Be a fly on the wall in this live debate. This will be an action figure/toy forum in the same format as
"Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher." We have a panel of experts and
Action Figure Times' Julius Marx will moderate by throwing topics into
the ring and letting the insiders hash it out. Features writer/editor/head of the Collector’s Club and all-around nice guy Dion Bozman.

  • What's up with all these McFarlane companies?, Friday, July 18, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Room 8
Todd Mcfarlane's companies are involved in all aspects of popular culture. Hear the latest about all the ongoing McFarlane projects in a lively panel discussion with some of Todd's top guys. Features Terry Fitzgerald-President, Todd McFarlane Entertainment; Ed Frank-President and Chief Designer-McFarlane Design; Dion Bozman-McFarlane Toys Collector's Club honcho; John comics and toy board moderator. Moderated by: Larry Marder-President McFarlane Toys.

  • How to make toys the McFarlane way!, Saturday, July 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Room 9

But, wait, even though we’re serious about the concept of event exclusives, we realize that not everyone can get to San Diego. So, we saved a single set of exclusives to give away here on
