Rue Morgue, Canada's premiere horror magazine, and Hobby Star Marketing have launched the 2004 Rue Morgue Festival of Fear Canadian National Horror Expo. The event will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre the weekend of Aug. 27-29, 2004 as part of Canada's National Expo (along with ComiCon, CNAnime and SFX), and is expected to draw some 20,000 genre fans.
Rue Morgue is proud to announce that the Guest of Honor for the 2004 Rue Morgue Festival of Fear will be legendary filmmaker George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow). Other guests include film icon Alejandro Jodorowsky (El Topo, Santa Sangre), Doug Bradley (Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies), Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movies), Tom Savini (From Dusk Till Dawn, Day of the Dead) and Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Pt. 2, House of 1000 Corpses). Also appearing will be Texas Chainsaw Massacre star Andrew Bryniarski, acclaimed apocalypse artist Joe Coleman, John Kassir (The Crypt Keeper from Tales From the Crypt), Emma Caulfield (Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), notorious independent filmmakers Douglas Buck and Larry Fessenden, creepy cult musician Nash the Slash, EI Cinema staple Misty Mundae, Random House horror novelist Kelley Armstrong, Vincent Marcone from My Pet Skeleton, genre scribe Edo Van Belkom and many, many more.
"This is obviously a huge event for us," said Rod Gudino, Rue Morgue editor and festival coordinator. "Toronto has always been considered something of a mecca for dark culture and we hope to be able to live up to that impression."
Rue Morgue Festival of Fear Canadian National Horror Expo 2004 will be the major genre event of the calendar year, with exclusive parties, offsite events, horror film screenings, autograph sessions, dealer tables and much more.
Bob "Todd's Dad" McFarlane will have a booth set up directly across from the Festival of Fear area and will have several of McFarlane Toys' upcoming series on display. For more event info, go to: http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConToronto/CC_Main.asp.
As an added bonus for spawn.com users, we have the first look at the cover of the next issue of Rue Morgue -- due on shelves in September -- with artwork by none other than Clive Barker. Enjoy.
