Limited, Four-Player Line Coming in February

Pay attention here, sports fans, this is kinda tricky and there will be a test at the end. When is McFarlane's Sports Picks: NFL Series 3 no longer Series 3? When it becomes Series 4.

Stay with me now. The NFL Series 3 line, whose potential lineup was discussed some time ago, will now be known as NFL Series 4. Its proposed release date of summer 2002 has not changed.

What has changed is that McFarlane Toys is tossing in an additional group of football players now known as Series 3, Rookies. This is a bonus NFL line consisting of four rookie players that should hit stores around Super Bowl time. Production on this line will be slightly more limited than our typical sports series.

The lineup for the new Series 3 is:

  • Chris Weinke, Carolina Panthers quarterback, No. 16
  • LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers running back, No. 21
  • Michael Bennett, Minnesota Vikings running back, No. 23
  • James Jackson, Cleveland Browns running back, No. 29

We'll post photos of these new figures in the coming weeks here on And, remember, the previous NFL 3 series is now NFL 4 and is still slated for summer of 2002. More details on that line as it draws closer.
