Todd Hosts "I Am Sci Fi" Promotional Spot

Who's the newest face of the Sci Fi channel? Todd McFarlane.

The popular cable network that features, duh, a variety of recorded and original-content science fiction programming approached Todd about doing a promotional spot several months ago. The network uses celebrities from all walks of entertainment to film futuristic promo pieces.

Others that have done promos include Jet Li, Busta Rhymes, Moby, Anne Rice, and Venus and Serena Williams.

The spot will be 30 seconds long and will feature about 20 seconds of animation and 10 seconds of Todd footage. The animation will be done by our Los Angeles-based Todd McFarlane Entertainment.

Sci Fi had a crew in our Tempe, Az., office to shoot the footage of Todd. They set up an entire scenario in our conference room and had Todd working at a drafting table inking some pages (Were they Spawn #100 pages? Could be!).

What was most amazing was the amount of time and effort that went into the setup and the lighting. The crew worked for about three hours setting up before Todd even got there. Then it took another couple hours to shoot Todd. All for 10 seconds of finished film. Incredible.

We won't give away the thrust of the promo, but we think you'll like it. Look for it to begin airing in mid-December on the Sci Fi Channel.
